The world is gripped with such horror and uncertainty right now, its frightening, but you don’t need any more posts telling you about what’s happening out there, our social media streams are filled with hundreds of posts and everywhere we go online there is more to be seen. So, in an effort to embrace my personal 12 week shielding, I am embracing the isolation and doing things I was planning on spending the next year learning and implementing. Of course with a toddler in tow, this is also the perfect setting to teach her things that will now, hopefully just be second nature to her as she grows.
We have all known for some time that we need to do more when it comes to reducing our waste. Most people do their bit, recycling and using less plastic, but is there more we can be doing and can we face doing it? The answer to yes is both, I wont bore you with statistics, why this is important or try to lay on some guilt so you feel bad enough about your choices that you end up doing this halfheartedly. You’ve seen the statistics, heard the reasons why and your choices are your own. If you want to do this, then go for it and embrace the change, believe me, it’s easier than I ever thought.
I have to admit, we recycle lots of things already, mostly for crafting purposes or simple goofy fun, but our kitchen waste, food wise, was quite bad. Not intentionally, it was just that I didn’t know what to do or where to start.
Well, I’ve started.
Over the coming weeks, I will be sharing with you what I am learning and being able to implement in our home. My aim is simple, easy and effective, as well as fun! Here are a few of the areas that I plan to, or have started looking at:
- Kitchen Scraps – Baking
- Kitchen Scraps – Cooking
- Kitchen Scraps – Growing
- Kitchen Scraps – Misc
- Recycling Packaging – Kids
- Recycling Packaging – Crafts
- Recycling Packaging – In The Garden
- Recycling Packaging – Around The Home
I’ll see you next week for our first installment!
