The Worsley Marriott Hotel is somewhere that we have visited on a few occasions and when we were invited back to try the new menu, in the newly refurbished restaurant, Grill in the Park, we could not say no!
Situated in the grounds of this idyllic hotel and country club, The Worsley Marriott offers a number of dining opportunities for guests and visitors alike, Grill in the Park being just one of them. A steakhouse with a twist you could say. With excellent décor and surroundings, Grill in the Park offers high-end dining with the feel of soul-warming food. The staff are on hand to advise and can suggest great parings of menu items and wines too. As we arrived we were treated to a selection of bread with butter, oils, and pesto to dip.
Myself and Nathan visited for the menu relaunch and were treated to three courses of our choosing from the menu. Nathan, being 12 is in that funny stage where he wants to be an adult but the portions may be too big at some places, yet ordering off the kids menu feels somewhat babyish for him. The staff were very happy to accommodate his needs and create a hybrid meal for him from both menus.
To start we chose Grill in the Park sharing platter – a board full of chicken wings, chili prawns, and more. It was served with a portion of fries too which means it could also be a main course serving for one.
There was a difficult choice to be made with the main course – steak, fajitas, ribs or a choice of burgers – there was honestly too much choice. I, however, opted for a slightly different choice than what I normally would go for, a rump of lamb with garlic mashed potatoes and kale. Nathan chose a chicken breast burger from the kid’s menu with a side of loaded fried covered in cheese and bacon from the adult’s menu getting the best of both worlds. However, his eyes were bigger than his stomach as he only managed to eat the fries, proclaiming them to be the best on the whole world. My main was also outstanding, divine. Cooked as the chef recommends, it was done exactly to my linking and paired perfectly with the mash. I was dubious about the kale – with it being a hipster style food but it surprised me and I would have gladly eaten it again.
Of course, we could not leave without sampling the dessert menu. Nathan by this point was in a food slump, full of carbs and cheese, a very happy place to be in my mind! He did opt for not having a pudding, stating that he was way too full and could eat no more – little did I realise, the draw of cookie dough with salted caramel ice cream that I ordered was too hard to resist and I ended up sharing my pudding with him, well, he ate most of it and then was on a sugar high on the way home.
Overall, we had a greatly enjoyable evening with a menu with plenty of choices and outstanding quality. I would highly recommend a trip to Grill in the Park if you are in the Manchester area and are looking for somewhere to dine with the family, a date or business.
We were given a complimentary meal for two to form part of our reviews. All thoughts are our own and are a reflection of the service which was provided.
