Inspiring the imagination in children happens from the world around us, their minds constantly thinking, wondering and wanting to explore the world. Arthouse Ltd provided children across the UK with a stimulus to get their imaginations going in the form of samples from their new Imagination Fun Collection. From there, they asked children to write short stories, for which the winning entries from the nationwide competition, combined with a selection of fantastic runners up, have been compiled into a beautifully illustrated hardback storybook – ‘The Little Book of Imagination’ – For Children, by Children in order to raise money for Rossendale Hospice.
I was lucky enough to be invited along to the book launch event at Arthouse headquarters in Rossendale to meet the budding writers, judges and local members of the community who have all benefited from the competition. The event showcased the work of the children alongside the inspiring works by Arthouse, showing what transformations can occur in children’s bedrooms which will, at home, help inspire young minds and transport children to far away lands.
As a writer myself, it was lovely to see how the various themes of the wallpapers created by Arthouse inspired the stories. From wallpaper coming to life and travelling through space, to magical unicorns, woodland creatures and animals earning their stripes, each story showed true talent and imagination which has also inspired Nathan to be more creative in his writing and also to redecorate his bedroom – he now feels a need for space pug canvases in his room!
This book will be available to purchase nationwide for £8.99, and all proceeds will go to the Rossendale Hospice based in Lancashire, of which Arthouse are proud patrons, supporting their valued work improving the quality of life for those with life-limiting illnesses.
