Mothers Day is a special day for us Mums, a day where we should be able to sit back and relax with our loved ones. For many Mum’s going out for dinner and not having washing up to do is a highlight!
We were offered a chance to eat out with Beefeater and sample their Mothers Day Menu – Nathan and I took it as a chance to have some nice together time and popped along to our local, The Norman Jepson in Preston to see what was on offer.
The family restaurant is very much set up to cater to the meat eaters among us, which for Nathan and I, it was great! We decided to order from the main menu, as we went just before Mothers Day and the special menu was not yet running, but was based on the main menu selections. Choices were three courses for £19.99 which proved good value, you could also add a glass of fizz for that extra special treat, too!
Nathan and I started off the meal with Crispy Chicken Wings with BBQ Sauce. Tender yet crispy, the chicken was delicious and just enough for us to share as a starter.
Our main course choices were, for me, Surf and Turf, a sirloin steak with garlic prawns plus all the trimmings, and for Nathan, you would not believe that this 9 year old devoured a 1/2lb cheese and bacon burger, with chips and did not leave a scrap on his plate! As we had eaten both starters and mains, along with our drinks, we decided to pass on pudding, though Nathan did keep insisting that he could fit a melt in the middle chocolate pudding in, or a rocky road sundae! The food was delicious and cooked to order, the waiting staff listened to our requests and nothing was too much trouble. My steak was cooked to perfection, medium rare, for me, the only thing I could think was missing was a couple of onion rings, which you could order as a side dish, but I sometimes only want one or two with my steak.
Nathan has asked that we take a trip back soon, he has his eye on the 10oz gammon steak, egg and pineapple next, as well as the potato skins and, of course, the puddings! I would be happy going back with friends and enjoying an evening of eating and drinking there. If you would like to go along to to your local Beefeater and treat someone special for Mothers Day – or for another special occasion, you can find out where your local restaurant is and book a table by visiting the Beefeater Website.
