We are one month into the new year already and I have already seen count downs to halloween and Christmas. The shops are full of easter eggs and the first lot of daffodils are blooming. Still no snow, but it is the UK and we can easily get snow in June.
The start of the year, like always, I am filled with good intentions. But as it’s now February and I still have a Christmas bowl out that is full of tree chocolates and candy canes, my intentions to start the new year with a nice tidy house have not gone to plan. I do blame the fact that my hoover has packed in for most of the mess, but that aside, I have tried to get myself organised and on track.
Sadly, recurrent kidney infections keep flooring me so I am working out a way around these, as I have already missed various blogging ops and trips because my body doesn’t like me.
A few hiccups in January that have been challenging me. Our heating oil tank was drained while I was away. The car broke down (again) and required £400 worth of repairs (ouch), an agreed monthly direct debit came out as a yearly sum from my bank and screwed me over with everything else going on too. But it’s not all been bad, here are my January Favourites for 2017!
Wow, what a show! Superheroes and bad guys with explosions and stunts all in real life! Made by the same team as Disney on Ice, this family show which wowed the crowds in Manchester and it’s tour across the UK. If you have a Marvel fan in your family, make sure you check out when the show will be touring again soon.
My play list at the moment is full of Ed Sheran, John Mayer, Panic! At the Disco, As It Is, Lady Gaga and the Lego Batman movie soundtrack featuring Patrick Stump as the voice of Batman.
Yes I have jumped on the Bujou bandwagon and I am loving it. My obsession with all things bullet journal related has now stretched to 2 note books and 2 diaries, 20 pens and various stickers too.
Emma Pollitt – The Crazy Wellness Coach
I have only known this lady for a few months but she is one of those people who feels like she’s been my friend for years. Her story is inspiring, her courage and determination is contagious and she may just be a little crazy too! (But frankly, all the best people are!) Emma has a passion for her work and that shines through. Working with essential oils and encouraging people to think outside the box when it comes to traditional medicine, Emma leads people in a study that shows how alternative therapies and mindfulness can help achieve balance in life. She is based in the north west but has clients all over the UK and abroad. There are workshops and classes from her home office which are being developed as well as a range of subscription wellness boxes which include ranges of products which are pre-made or with instructions to make yourself. I am sure you will be hearing a lot more from this woman in the future!
Comfort food for January
It’s cold and horrid at the best of times so my comfort food for January has been simple. Golden syrup porridge, morning, noon or night – I will gladly eat porridge any time of the day, the stickier and thicker the better. Peanut butter on toast is my other go to snack but there must be butter on the toast too otherwise it’s too claggy. And, finally, if you want to win my affections, a large mocha will promise to put a smile on my face.
How has the first month of the year been for you? What have been your personal highlights and what are you looking forward to this year? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments or on my Facebook page.
Love, hugs and BuJou’s
